Nordic data center operator atNorth has completed structural work on the latest expansion of its FIN02 campus in Espoo, Finland, marking another step in the company's sustained investment in Finnish digital infrastructure as demand for high-performance computing capacity continues to surge across the region.
The topping-out milestone, announced by the company this week, covers a new five-story building at the Sinimäentie site outside Helsinki. At full build-out, the FIN02 campus will deliver 40MW of capacity across 20,050 square meters (215,815 square feet). The original 15MW facility at the site was first announced in 2023 and commenced operations in October 2025.
Construction firm Skanska was selected in May 2026 for the €100 million ($112 million) expansion, which entails the development of an 11,200-square-meter (120,555-square-foot) five-story facility. Work began in April 2026 and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2027.
In a statement posted on LinkedIn, atNorth said the expansion "represents another step in atNorth's continued investment in Finland, strengthening our presence in the Nordics and supporting the growing demand for reliable, high-performance digital infrastructure."
The company, originally formed as Advania Data Centers in 2012 from a combination of Icelandic IT specialist Skyrr, Swedish firm Kerfi and Norwegian outfit Hands, de-merged from the Advania Group in 2017 and rebranded as atNorth. It was sold to Swiss investment manager Partners Group in 2021 and subsequently acquired by Equinix and CPP earlier this year.
atNorth currently operates seven data centers across Sweden, Iceland and Finland, with additional sites under development in Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. In Finland, the company runs two facilities around Helsinki that it acquired from former parent Advania in 2023, and is developing the 60MW FIN04 project in Kouvola — with potential to scale to 430MW — alongside the planned 230MW FIN05 project in Salo, southwest Finland.
The expansion underscores the broader buildout of Nordic data center capacity, as operators race to meet demand from hyperscalers and AI workloads seeking access to renewable energy and favorable climates for cooling. Finland has emerged as a key growth market, with atNorth's pipeline positioning the company to capture a significant share of that demand through 2027 and beyond.
